Q1.
How Many Moons would fit inside the earth?
approximately 50.

Q2.
What is the size of the moon compared to the other moons?
The Moon is large compared to Earth. Almost all other moons are much smaller relative to the planets they orbit.

Q3.
Does the distance between the moon and the earth change over time?
Yes, external image Earth-Moon.PNG
The Moon's orbit (its circular path around the Earth) is indeed getting larger, at a rate of about 3.8 centimeters per year. (The Moon's orbit has a radius of 384,000 km.) I wouldn't say that the Moon is getting closer to the Sun, specifically, though--it is getting farther from the Earth, so, when it's in the part of its orbit closest to the Sun, it's closer, but when it's in the part of its orbit farthest from the Sun, it's farther away.
The reason for the increase is that the Moon raises tides on the Earth. Because the side of the Earth that faces the Moon is closer, it feels a stronger pull of gravity than the center of the Earth. Similarly, the part of the Earth facing away from the Moon feels less gravity than the center of the Earth. This effect stretches the Earth a bit, making it a little bit oblong. We call the parts that stick out "tidal bulges." The actual solid body of the Earth is distorted a few centimeters, but the most noticable effect is the tides raised on the ocean.

B. Read the following Math quotations (some you may have heard before) and below three of them, write your interpretation of what you believe the author is trying to say.

"Mathematics is neither physical nor mental, it's social." Reuben Hersh, 1927-
math helps the world connect, and solves a lot of problems and things we need to discover.

"The useful combinations (in mathematics) are precisely the most beautiful." Henri Poincare, 1854-1912
the difficult understanding of math, life is just what makes it worth it.
"Mathematics is the abstract key with turns the lock of the physical universe." John Polkinghorne, 1930 -
Math is the key to unlocking secrets of life, it's what it proves it.
"Everything that can be counted does not count. Everything that counts cannot be counted." Albert Einstein, 1879-1955
It has been said about intangibles that in order for them to reflect reality they need to be more “volatile” and less precise and that they require much more guess work.
"The mark of a civilized man is the ability to look at a column of numbers and weep." Berterand Russell, 1872-1970
the real adjudicated people are those who can turn nonsense to sense.
"A mathematician is a machine for turning coffee into theorems." Paul Erdos, 1913-96
math is a way to reason and prove
"Mathematics began when it was discovered that a barce of pheasants, and a couple of days have something in common: the number two." Bertrand Russell, 1872-1970

To speak freely, I am convinced that it (mathematics) is a more powerful instrument of knowledge than any other..." Rene Descaret, 1596-1650
math is something that mostly can e proven, which is strong.

"Instead of having "answers" on a math test, they should just call them 'impressions", and if you got a different "impression", so what, cant' we all be brothers?| Jack Handy 1949-
all answers are partly ture.

My first Essay; (understand or misunderstand):

My 2 Essay, (option 2)

Is Math invented or discovered?
a) a statement of your thoughts in response to the question:
The Birth of Math is unknown, the time it was made and released is unknown, therefore no one could’ve invented it because its beyond humans time, and our knowledge, Math was discovered nevertheless, humans identified it after categorizing out world, which means it was and always have been there.
b) Examples that back up your thinking:
- In biology, the life theory, states that life started by 2 cells joining together. 1+1=2, =life. Math was right there at the begging of our lives, which proves that not only humans did not invent math, but animals and all kind of livings.
- In normal life humans were able to notice patterns and sequences, notice, discovered, did not invent, apple, apple, apple, and apple, how many apples 4. Only noticed. Same in counting and algebra.
- The moon and sun theory is full math and patterns and no human is able to control it, which means we humans only discovered.
- In Quran the word” day” was repeated 356 times, which means god knew math before all of us, if someone invented math its god.

Is Math invented or discovered ? Mariam and Danya (Group work)

a) a statement of your thoughts in response to the question:

(math as zain stated is logical patterns)
Most people could argue that math was in fact an invention of humankind that continues to develop everyday. Yet the opposing point of view states that math was not a mere invention of mortals, but it was a discovery that these humans have learned over time. Siding with the second point of view, Math is and was there since the dawn of time, humans discovered the existence, and developed what they saw, but never truly invented it. Religions are beliefs that reinforces this idea. In most religions it it believed that God had created everything from the smallest spec of dust to the largest phenomenon's in the world, therefore I must believe that Math was always there, not invented but discovered by Humans.

b) examples that back up your thinking:

One can argue that
  • inventing a machine is a form of invention of mathematics to use on this object. Yet it is evident that in most cases, the maths used is not invented but it is only discovered that this mathematic rule can be applied onto this innovation.
  • People cannot just invent mathematics, for example, one cannot say a thing such as 2 + 2 = 5 because it was already discovered that two and two make four.
  • Pascal's triangle is a triangle in which according to the dictionary is a triangular array of numbers in which those at the ends of the rows are 1 and each of the others is the sum of the nearest two numbers in the row above, Blaise Pascal discovered how the pattern went, because the pattern was there all along, which mean did not invented.
  • In biology, the life theory, states that life started by the merging of two cells. 1+1=2=life. Math was right there at the beginning of life. Which proves that humans did not invent math.

Therefore it can be concluded from these examples that math is not invented but discovered over time.

The Fine Art of Baloney Detection
Begging the question/assuming the answer

1.Understand
- The term was translated into English from Latin in the 16th century.
- Petitio Principii meaning a request for the beginning or premise.
- The fallacy of Petitio Principii is committed when a proposition, which requires proof, is assumed without proof.
- The second definition is from the Prior Analytics by the Greek philosopher Aristotle, Circular Argument/reasoning.

2. My own example
Me: I’m not a liar; I’m not lying about my grade in chemistry
Mom: yes you are, you always get a bad grad in chemistry.
Me: but that doesn’t make me a liar, you’re begging the question.
3. The Article’s example

Pg.1”that’s not what this is about, this is about humans being humans”
Pg.1”plainly there’s something within me that’s ready to believe in life after death, and it’s not the least bit interested in whether there’s any sober evidence for it”
Pg.1”A quarter if Americans believe in reincarnation”
Pg.2” and in the final tolling it often turns out that the facts are more comforting than the fantasy”
4. Google Examples
- Bill: "God must exist."
Jill: "How do you know."
Bill: "Because the Quran says so."
Jill: "Why should I believe the Quran?"
Bill: "Because the Quran was written by God."

- Lawyer to defendant: "When did you stop beating your wife?"
